Types of Diabetes
Everything that we eat will eventually get transformed into form of glucose and fat within our body. They act as a source of energy for us to carry out our work. However, when the sugar level exceeds the normal level, the condition is known as diabetes. Adults and the elderly are among the easiest groups to develop diabetes, overweight people in particular.
Typically, this disease is caused by the malfunctioning of a hormone inside of our body, which is called insulin. Pancreas is the organ that produces insulin, used to store glucose but when insulin failed or act abnormally during the process of keeping the sugar in our body, they'll end up going into our blood. Symptoms including pain in the stomach and often urination, blurry vision, fatigue, weak appearances, sudden weight loss and excessive hunger or thirst are signs that our body has developed diabetes.
There are three different types of diabetes that may occur in our human body. The first is named Type 1 diabetes. The pancreas of the patient has either stopped producing or produces insufficient amount of insulin to control the sugar level in our blood, thus daily insulin injection is required to sustain life.
Next, Type 2 diabetes is a disease where a patient's body has difficulty in regulating its blood sugar level. Type 2 diabetes is among the most common, around 90 percent of the number of diabetes patients and they can be treated with exercise, diet, weight loss and medication which might include insulin intake.
Lastly, there is gestational diabetes which only occurs on pregnant women and usually being diagnosed during the second half of pregnancy. It can be a serious matter for the mother and her offspring if no proper medication is done. Gestational diabetes will end after the delivery but these mothers are more prone to Type 2 diabetes in the future and also their child may probably develop childhood obesity.
Diabetic patient who has financial burden can always opt for insurance coverage. Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes are usually covered in a standard health insurance policy. The whole medication process for diabetes patient can make a person unable to continue working for a period of time. Unless you are financially stable, it is better to search for some health insurance quotes as early as possible to protect yourself.
