5 Common Hair Loss Treatments
Each and every year, millions of people including both male and female are affected by hair loss. Such frustrating experience do not only occur on adults but also on people who are not at all prepared for this circumstances like young adults and even children. Hair loss can be results from our daily stress, smoking, improper diet, overused of chemical treatments and causes from genetic inheritance.
Below I have written about some of the most common methods of hair loss treatments followed by a number of tips which I would like to share:
1) A type of topical solution called Minoxidil or better known for its trade name, Rogaine, is the most common hair loss treatment used by both male and female. Minoxidil is an over the counter medication that helps prevent further hair loss and it is available in two concentration strengths, which are 2% and 5%.
Men are safe to use either one of the concentration levels without any problem. However that's not the case on women. Solution that contains 5% of Minoxidil concentration should not be used by women because it does not really provide a better effect in reducing hair loss and it is also associated with birth defects.
2) Propecia finasteride is another drug option available but it should only be taken when approved by your physician with a written prescription. Propecia does not only prevent hair loss but also helps hair to re-grow when being used over a period of time. Unfortunately, it has its own side effects that may affect both male and female users.
3) If you choose to use any one of the hair solutions stated above for your hair loss problem, there are two important points that you need to know. First, understand that in order to remain its effectiveness, you will have to use it on a daily basis. Second, when you fail to continue using the drug, it will probably stop working and it is highly possible that hair loss will resume.
4) Some people might find these hair loss treatments uncomfortable, therefore they went for other options such as hair concealment products. Hats, caps, scarves or hair wigs are used to cover up the hair loss area.
5) Finally, there is hair loss replacement surgery. It is a procedure where hair follicles from the back of our head are taken out and then being implanted individually to the wanted area. Though it is a great option for many people, it can be expensive and it may take a lengthy recovery period. A repeated number of surgeries may also be needed as hair continues to fall, perhaps in every a year or two depending on personal situation.
